Genesaret is a lakeside camp on Chrissiesmeer about 7 km from Chrissiesmeer village. NG De Bruin Park runs the site with camping stands, rondavels, chalets, and open-bank fishing for barbel and carp.
Genesaret sits on the shore of Chrissiesmeer, the largest natural freshwater lake in South Africa. Barbel and carp are common catches from the open bank in front of the camp. Motorised boats are not allowed on the lake. Rowboats and kayaks are available for birding and paddling. Papgooi works well from the grass banks. Confirm fishing rules with the venue before you visit.
The camp is on the Chrissiesmeer shore in Mpumalanga. Turn off near Chrissiesmeer village and drive about 7 km to the Genesaret gate. Electrical caravan and tent stands sit on grass near the water. Five ablution blocks have hot showers and clean bathrooms. Accommodation options include luxury units with private bathrooms, basic units with shower and toilet, dorm-style bunk units, the Jonatan self-catering chalet, and the Meerrus house that sleeps ten guests. WiFi is available on site. Families can use a trampoline, zipline, volleyball court, table tennis, and kayaks. The camp suits groups, church camps, and family getaways. Kids are welcome.
