X-Factor Trout Farm is a spring-fed quarry lake in Meadowdale, Edenvale. Day visitors can fly fish, spin fish, or bring the family for picnics and kids activities minutes from Johannesburg.
The fishing
The 5-hectare quarry holds rainbow and brown trout, largemouth bass, carp, kurper, and barbel. Fly fishing catch-and-release runs on the main lake. Spin fishing for bass uses a designated area. Float tubes and pontoons are available to hire. A specimen carp club runs on separate weekday and peak session rates.

Staying at X-Factor Trout Farm
X-Factor Trout Farm sits behind Builders Warehouse in Meadowdale, Edenvale. The venue opens daily from 06:00 to 18:00. General day fishing and picnics do not need a booking. Parties, group outings, and float tube sessions should be booked ahead. Bank fishing, float tubes, braai areas, and a tackle shop are on site. Kids can use the playground and gemstone scratch patch. The venue is pet-friendly when dogs stay on a lead. Day visitor entrance is about R60 per person. Fly fishing catch-and-release is about R230 for a full day or R150 for a half day.
