Tierpoort Dam holds carp and other freshwater species. Bank anglers fish from open shoreline near the chalets and camping area. Papgooi and specimen carp setups work on this water. Watersport boats share the dam, so confirm the rules with the venue before you fish.
Tom's Place sits on Farm Oom Tom 2931, about 25 km south of Bloemfontein on the N1. The resort has self-catering chalets, named fisherman's cottages and grass campsites with electricity. A restaurant, filling station and swimming pool are on site. The fisherman's cottages are about 1 km from the main reception area. Guests can stay overnight or visit for the day to fish, boat or birdwatch. Chalets include bedding, a kitchen and braai facilities. Camping stands have ablutions with hot water. After-hours check-in is available at the on-site petrol station for chalet guests. Self-catering chalets start from about R1,525 per night for four guests. Day fishing fees are available.
