The fishing
The cottage sits on a stocked farm dam with bass and rainbow and brown trout. Catch and release applies to bass. Trout may be kept at a per-kilogram fee. A rowing boat with a small motor is available for guests. Six stocked dams on the farm are open to cottage guests. Hiking trails lead to Bushman rock art nearby.

Staying at Thatcher's Rest
The cottage has three bedrooms and three bathrooms for up to seven guests. Two upper bedrooms are en-suite. A mezzanine single suits a child. The lounge has a Jetmaster fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas and electric cooking. A covered deck has a gas braai. A wood braai sits on the shore below a willow tree. Covered parking fits two cars. Eskom power has generator backup. Guests reach the cottage by an 8 km gravel road off the N11 Collings Pass turnoff. Check-in is from 14:00. Check-out is before 10:00. Children are welcome. Pets are not allowed. The cottage is about R1 515 per night for the first two guests and about R480 per night for each extra guest, up to seven guests.
