Msinsi - Albert Falls

KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, Albert Falls Dam

Msinsi Albert Falls Dam and Game Reserve sits in the Karkloof hills about 24 km from Pietermaritzburg. Msinsi Holdings manages this large public dam for fishing, boating, camping, and game viewing.

The fishing

Albert Falls Dam is rated among South Africa's top bass waters and hosts an international bass competition each year. The dam also holds carp, barbel, and kurper. Bank anglers fish from picnic lawns and designated overnight fishing areas. Boat launching is available with separate motorised and non-motorised fees. A Msinsi fishing permit is required in addition to gate entry. Papgooi works well for carp and barbel. Confirm permit zones and boat rules with the venue.
