Zonderwater Dam is a small catch-and-release carp dam inside the Zonderwater prison grounds near Cullinan. The angling club runs about 15 bookable bank stands with toilets and braais.
The fishing
The dam holds carp and barbel. Fishing is catch and release only. Stands are wide open bank pegs with grass to the water. Sweet flavours and canned mielies work well at 40 to 60 metres. Confirm stand rules and availability with the venue before you book.

Staying at Zonderwater Dam
Zonderwater Dam sits between Rayton and Cullinan on the N4 east of Pretoria. Access is through the Zonderwater Correctional Services compound. The venue is run by the local angling club. There are about 15 numbered bank stands. Each stand has space for day fishing or overnight camping. Running water, toilets, and built-in braais sit between stands. The site is flat and wheelchair friendly. There is no electricity or showers. Shops are about 6 km away. Book well in advance. The dam is popular and stands fill months ahead.
