La Ferme is a farm stay near Franschhoek in the Cape winelands. Four stocked dams offer trout, bass, and carp fishing for day visitors and guests staying in self-catering cottages.
Four private dams are stocked with trout, bass, and carp. Two dams are fly fishing only for trout in winter. One dam is set up for carp. The fourth dam holds bass and trout depending on stock. A small shop hires rods and sells bait. Single barbless hooks are required. Most fishing is catch and release. Trout may be kept in warmer months. Confirm what is in each dam before you visit.
La Ferme has four self-catering cottages and flats near the Wemmershoek River. Thatch, Plum, and Forest cottages sleep families with braais, fireplaces, and mountain views. River Flat sits beside the river. Accommodation guests get a fishing day pass included. The farm also has a pool, jungle gym, and braai areas for day visitors. Day fishing runs from 07:30 to 18:00. Pre-booking is recommended. You can bring your own food and drinks. Braai facilities are on site. Card payments are accepted. Day fishing is about R250 for adults from age 10 and R200 for children aged 9 and under. Non-fishing day rates are about R200 for adults and R150 for children.
