Kamberg Valley Hideaway sits on a smallholding between Kamberg and Highmoor in the southern Drakensberg. Two self-catering cottages overlook Spurwing Dam, where guests can fly fish or spin for rainbow trout and bass.
Spurwing Dam is about one hectare on the property. It holds rainbow trout from roughly 250 g to 1 kg and some bass. Depths run from shallow margins to about 4 m, with an island, jetty, and bank access. Float tubes are welcome. Fly rods and spinning rods are allowed. Catch and release is encouraged on trout. A re-stocking fee applies if you keep trout. Cottage guests fish the dam without a separate rod permit.
Forest Cottage and Sunset Cottage are luxury self-catering units on Highmoor Road near Kamberg. Each cottage has open-plan living, a fully equipped kitchen, and views over the valley and dam. The farm is pet friendly on request. Bird hides and photography spots are on the property. Nearby Kamberg and Highmoor nature reserves offer additional trout water. WildFly day permits cover other private dams in the valley. The Kamberg Trout Festival runs in early June each year. Nightly cottage rates are on Nightsbridge.
