Limpopo, Haenertsburg, Ebenezer Dam
Ebenezer Dam sits on the Groot Letaba River in Magoebaskloof between Haenertsburg and Tzaneen. The basin covers about 386 ha and is a well-known Limpopo destination for bass, carp, kurper, barbel, and trout.
Ebenezer Dam holds largemouth and smallmouth bass, mirror and common carp, kurper, barbel, and rainbow trout. The water is clear and cool. Mirror carp are a draw for specimen anglers. Steep banks make shore fishing awkward on many sections. Boat fishing is popular. A small launch fee applies at the local boat club. You need a valid angling licence for freshwater fishing in South Africa. Confirm access points, boating rules, and any fees with the water authority before you visit.
Ebenezer Dam is a state water supply reservoir managed by Lepelle Northern Water. It sits in the Magoebaskloof highlands on the R71 corridor between Haenertsburg and Tzaneen. This is public dam water, not a single private resort. Day visitors come for picnics, birding, boating, and fishing. Camping and chalets are available at clubs and lodges on parts of the shoreline. Mountain Yacht Club and other operators run sailing, camping, and boat access on the eastern shore. Boat launch fees are charged at the local boat club. Shore access varies by area. Day fishing fees are not published for the open dam. Confirm launch fees, camping, and access with the relevant operator before you book. Last updated at: 29 September 2026.
