Breede River Lodge sits on the Breede River mouth at Witsand. Stay in self-catering units or rooms and fish the estuary for bass, carp and kurper.
The lodge overlooks the Breede estuary where the river meets the sea. Bass, carp and kurper are common in the river. Line fish are caught in the bay. Bank angling, boat fishing and fly fishing all work here. The on-site harbour has moorings, boat launch and kayak hire through the Breede River Boat Club. Breede River Lodge is an estate-style lodge on Joseph Barry Drive in Witsand. Individually owned units are managed on site. Choose from fisherman rooms, studios, waterfront doubles and larger self-catering apartments. Most units have a kitchen or heat-and-eat setup. Daily reception and housekeeping are on site. Shared amenities include a river-view swimming pool, the Spasie on Breede restaurant and coffee shop, and harbour facilities. Kids are welcome. The area is known for whale watching in spring and fynbos hikes nearby. Fisherman rooms start at about R840 per night for two guests. Self-catering studios are about R1000 per night.
