Eastern Cape, Stutterheim, Wriggleswade Dam
Wriggleswade Dam is a 1 000 ha Kubusi River reservoir near Stutterheim in the Eastern Cape. The Stutterheim Aquatic Club runs camping, caravan sites, and day fishing from the southern shore.
Wriggleswade is known for largemouth and spotted bass, carp, and kurper. Submerged trees, grass beds, and old farmland structure make it a top bass venue in the province. Bank fishing is mainly around the club campsite. A tube or small boat helps reach open water past the grass fringe. Power boats are allowed. Carp must not be returned to the dam. Papgooi and lure fishing both work here. Confirm the rules with the venue before you fish.
The Stutterheim Aquatic Club leases the southern bank from the water authority. About 60 campsites and 60 powered caravan stands sit above the water with ablutions, braai spots, and a slipway. A single log cabin is also available. Day visitors can use picnic and braai areas on the shore. The club hosts bass classics, sailing events, and watersports on busy weekends. Bank anglers share the campsite shoreline. Quieter midweek stays suit families who want more space. Camping was about R80 per site per night plus R120 per person per night, with up to four people per site, at a 2024 club event tariff. Day fishing and cabin rates are not published. Confirm the price with the venue before you book. Last updated at: 19 September 2026.
