Jozini Dam, also called Pongolapoort, is the southernmost tigerfish water in South Africa. Most fishing is from boats because the shoreline has submerged trees, hippos, and crocodiles. Carp, barbel, kurper, and mudfish are also caught here. Sardines, chicken hearts, and chicken livers work well for bait. Confirm boating rules and sanctuary boundaries with the venue before you launch.
The camp is inside the Pongola Game Reserve near Jozini in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Five family chalets and safari tents sleep up to 42 guests when the whole camp is booked. Chalets have air conditioning, self-catering kitchens, private bomas, and outdoor showers. Safari tents share a central boma with DSTV, a viewing deck, and a fire pit. Nyala and other game often move through the camp. All units are self-catering. Catering for groups of four or more can be arranged on request. The camp office sells wood, ice, bait, and basic supplies. Boats launch from a slipway about 1 km from camp. Children under 12 pay half price and children under 3 stay free.
