Middelburg Dam Caravan Park sits on the Klein Olifants River dam near Middelburg in Mpumalanga. It is a municipal recreation area with informal camping, ablutions, and open-bank fishing for bass, carp, and barbel.
Middelburg Dam holds largemouth and smallmouth bass, carp, barbel, and yellowfish. Bank angling works from the grassy shoreline around the caravan park. Boats can launch from gravel banks in the camping area. There are no formal boat ramps. Papgooi and lure fishing both produce fish here. Confirm current fishing rules and any permit fees with the venue before you visit.
The caravan park is managed by Steve Tshwete Local Municipality on Middelburg Dam. It is an informal first-come-first-served site with ablution blocks and a limited number of electrical points. Contractors, motorbikes, and pipe cars are not allowed. Maximum stay is two weeks. Campers and caravanners share open grass stands near the water. You can also fish from the bank without staying overnight. Entrance and camping fees apply at the gate. Current tariff sheets were not published online during research. Tracks4Africa last listed about R60 per caravan per day plus vehicle and boat entry fees, with rates reviewed each July. Confirm the current price with the venue before you book.
