Fishing at Groendraai River Cottages - Silvercarp
The farm has long stretches of the Sterkstroom and Mokolo rivers. Bass, barbel, and kurper are common. All fishing is catch and release. Popular water includes the main dam in front of the cottages, Annatjie Se Dam, Klipspruit on the Mokolo, and river sections such as Org Se Brug. Bring your own rods, bait, and tackle. Confirm rod limits and access with the venue before you fish.

Silvercarp Cottage takes its name from the river’s quiet abundance. Carp moving steadily beneath the surface, reflects strength, patience & grace - qualities mirrored in the cottage’s spaciousness & refined comfort. A place designed for unhurried mornings, long river views & deep rest, where the movement of water becomes part of the experience. Self-catering, 4-sleeper, ideal for small family or 2 couples on weekend away. 2nd room gets closed up to make it a spacious weekend for you & your significant other with a booking for 2. 2 bedrooms with king-size bed in each. Can be converted to 4 single beds on request. The beds have good-quality, firm mattresses & are made up of 100% white cotton linen. There are 2 en-suite bathrooms, 1 with a bath & shower & the other with a shower only. Amenities & towels are provided. Ceiling & standing fans are available throughout the cottage, as well as air-conditioning in the living area. Electric blankets are also put on the beds during winter. Enjoy relaxing in the lounge area with a gas fireplace & a smart TV. Free Wi-Fi is also available. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a gas stove & oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, airfryer & toaster, as well as a coffee machine, stick blender & Sodastream. On the ‘farm stoep’ is a built-in braai & outdoor furniture to relax on. There is also a boma braai pot with seating, where guests can unwind & stargaze at night. The cottage boasts a wood-fired hot tub, where guests can enjoy the soft crackle of a fire & the comfort of naturally heated water. During hot summer days, the tub is ideal for cooling off. Additional amenities include covered parking for 2 vehicles & available board games for the family. A camping cot is available on request in advance. There are 3 kayaks & 6 mountain bikes to rent for a daily fee. Guests must stock up on food, fresh produce & drinks before arriving. Firewood can be purchased on-site. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
