Driekoppies Dam is a large irrigation reservoir on the Lomati River near Schoemansdal in Mpumalanga. The Komati Basin Water Authority runs the dam. Bass and carp fishing draw anglers from the Lowveld.
Driekoppies Dam holds about 251 million cubic metres of water across roughly 1 870 ha. Largemouth bass and carp are the main angling species. The water is often clear and healthy bass are common. Bank anglers can pick up small bass near grass and structure. Bigger fish usually need a boat to reach deeper water. The Lowveld Bass Trail holds tournaments here. Rod fishing is promoted. Net fishing is not allowed. Confirm access points, permits and catch rules with the venue before you visit.
