Boschkop Vaaldam Oord is a freshwater angling resort on the Vaal Dam, on the R54 between Vereeniging and Villiers near Vaal Marina. Camp on open dam bank or book one of six chalets with dam views.
The resort sits on about 4 km of Vaal Dam shoreline when water levels allow. Carp, bass, barbel, and kurper are the main species. Bank angling is the focus. Canoes and bait boats up to 15 hp are allowed for dropping lines. No ski boats or jet skis. Papgooi and specimen carp fishing both work here. A small shop sells drinks, ice, and fishing bait. Confirm the rules with the venue before you fish.
Boschkop has open camping on the dam bank. Stands are not marked or reserved. Arrive, pay at the gate, and choose your spot. There is no electricity on camping stands. Ablutions with hot showers are on site. Generators are allowed at camp. Six chalets sleep from two to nine guests. Chalets sit near the shop about 350 m from the water at full dam level. They are not on the water edge, but chalet rates include access to a designated bank area. Chalet bookings are by email only. Pets are welcome when camping. They are not allowed in chalets. Gate fees from 15 August 2025 are about R90 per adult per day plus R40 per adult per night, with a once-off R30 vehicle fee. Half-day tickets are about R50 for adults.
