Bass Lake Lodge sits on private dams in Bobbejaansberg, about 30 minutes north east of Pretoria. Camp at the caravan park or stay in lodge rooms and fish bass, kurper and winter trout.
Two dams hold bass and kurper on a catch and release basis in summer. Trout are stocked for winter fishing. Trout caught in winter must be bought by weight and may not go back into the water. Fishing is free for camping and lodge guests. Day visitors can fish on a booked day visit. Paddle boats and rafts are on the water. Bring your own rods and tackle. Confirm the fishing rules with the venue.
Bass Lake Country Lodge is on Portion 64 Leeuwkloof off the R573 Moloto Road at De Wagensdrift. The caravan park has 34 grassed stands with electricity and water points. Ablutions are on site. One family per stand is allowed, with up to six people. Lodge rooms range from budget doubles to grand suites. Spencer's Restaurant, a pool, playground, spa and conference venues are on the farm. Game such as zebra and kudu roam the property. Camping is the main fishing stay option. Check in and check out times follow the caravan park rules. Kids are welcome at the caravan park. Pets are not allowed at camping stands. Day visitors may book for fishing on Friday to Sunday from 08:00 to 16:00. Caravan park camping is about R450 per night midweek or R600 per weekend for four people and one vehicle. Extra guests are about R90 to R150 per person.
